I dressed up as No Face for Halloween

When it comes to Halloween, I’m a go-big-or-go-home kind of person. I hate half-assing a costume, so if the inspiration doesn’t strike (or if it strikes too late), I call it off. This year however, I had just enough time in between coming up with an idea and the day before Halloween for me to cobble together a costume of No Face from Spirited Away.

Dang, I’d never gotten so many likes on an Instagram before.

Not much else to say here. Mostly this blog post is so I can keep my favorite media in one place. Self high-five.

Update!!!

Kevin made a video of me walkin around and being real creepy. Here it is!

Shitty Twitter avatar portraits

(This happened a while ago, but I’m writing about it now. Sometimes it takes three months for me to get my shit together and actually write about something, okay? This is real life.)

What do you do when you’re sitting in a chair for like 5 or 6 hours and you’re tired of trying to do the Saturday crossword? You draw really shitty, sometimes unsolicited, avatar portraits of people you know on Twitter.

(Getting your hair dyed takes forever when you have a crapton of hair, even if you’ve literally shaved about a third of it off.)

I want to say that this was a brilliant spontaneous thing that I came up with on the fly, but I actually planned this out before coming to the salon. I brought a pen and Post-Its and everything. Is that sad? I wouldn’t know, because I don’t know sadness.

Mad shouts to Zach and his color team at Arrojo. Also mad shouts to 3M for inventing Post-Its.

CM Summit Nametags
Nic Annette Miller, New York

Not long after my departure from Tattly, I did a quick, fun lettering project for CreativeMornings! Their Summit, which gathered nearly 200 CM organizers from around the world under one roof, required nametags for each of the attendees, and I was more than happy to do a few of them.

Basically, I left Tattly one day and walked back into the Studiomates the next day, is how it happened. Really though, I shouldn’t be surprised!
